Environment Canada is issuing a wind warning for Greater Victoria on Saturday, while snowfall advisories and another wind warning remain active for other parts of Vancouver Island.

Just after 9 a.m., Environment Canada said winds between 70 to 90 km/h were expected to sweep over Greater Victoria and the Southern Gulf Islands.

The winds are expected to pick up around noon and continue through the afternoon, before easing early Saturday evening.

More weather warnings and advisories

Greater Victoria’s wind warning comes one day after another wind warning was issued for North Vancouver Island, where gusts are expected to reach 80 to 110 km/h along exposed coastal areas Saturday.

Meanwhile, a snowfall advisory is in effect for the Malahat Highway, Inland Vancouver Island and parts of East Vancouver Island on Saturday.

Two to four centimetres of snow are expected to fall in these regions, though up to 10 centimetres is expected over higher elevation areas of Inland Vancouver Island.

The snowfall is expected to turn to rain by Saturday evening.
