West Shore RCMP say investigators are searching for a driver involved in a hit-and-run that left a teen with minor injuries Wednesday morning.

At around 8:50 a.m. on Sept. 28, a 14-year-old female student waiting for her bus was struck by a driver in the Sooke Lake Road and Amy Road area of Langford, Mounties say.

According to police, the student sustained minor physical injuries and is expected to recover. They say the driver of the vehicle did not stop to check if she was OK and drove away, heading westbound on Sooke Lake Road.

Police describe the suspect vehicle, which appeared to be lowered to the ground, as a black two-door car with round headlights.

The suspect, meanwhile, is described as a Caucasian man in his 20s with long blond curly hair and brown eyes.

“Police made extensive patrols in the area but have not located the suspect driver or vehicle. We are asking anyone in the area at the time who may have witnessed this collision to come forward,” said Cpl. Nancy Saggar, West Shore RCMP spokesperson, in a news release.

“To the suspect driver, you know who you are, please do the right thing and identify yourself to the police,” Saggar added.

Anyone in the area at the time who captured dashcam footage of the incident is asked to call West Shore RCMP at 250-474-2264.
