Vikes hockey team takes on island rival VIU in home opener

WATCH: The UVic Vikes hockey team hosts their island rival, the VIU Mariners tonight at the Ian Stewart Complex for their home opener. 

The Vikes are coming off a disappointing season after a league title in the year prior, while the Mariners are heading into their second season in the BCIHL, looking to pick up where they left off after a strong debut year. The BCIHL is composed of university teams from the island and the lower mainland, and while it’s considered a level below U SPORTS, the league has come a long ways in the last few years. The Vikes and Mariners clash at 7:30 p.m.
