The Victoria Police Department says they are still looking for one person with a gun after two reports were made Thursday morning at Beacon Hill Park.
VicPD spokesperson Bowen Osoko said police received a call just before 9 a.m. for a report of a man with a weapon at the park.
“The report came in after a delay. It sounds as though the person who first made the report called a supervisor, who called another supervisor who then called us,” Osoko said.
“The report was a man with a gun, seen loading the gun.”
Osoko said police received a second call with similar information so several officers went to the park to search for the man.
Initially, people were asked to avoid the park during the search but city staff who work in the park were given the all-clear from officers to return to their duties just before 10 a.m.
Osoko said they are still working to find the suspect but they do not believe the person is still in the park at this time.
Officers are responding to a report of a person with a weapon in Beacon Hill Park near Cook Street. Officers are searching for the man now. Please avoid the area.#yyj
