Victoria city council voted to end 24-hour camping in city parks and find homes for those currently sheltering there during a meeting on Thursday.

The motion to end the camping  was put forward by Coun. Jeremy Loveday and Victoria Mayor Lisa Helps.

It laid out six recommendations that all passed, including ending the camping by March 31, 2021.

The city will now look at several options to end the camping.

The city also voted to remove Centennial Square from the list of parks where people can shelter. This is the second time the issue has been voted on.
