Victoria Police say a man approached elementary school students and asked them to accompany him to his vehicle this afternoon.

Around 12:45 p.m., officers were called to Sir James Douglas Elementary School in the 400-block of Moss Street after students on lunch break were approached by an unknown man.

The man asked the students to accompany him to his vehicle so they could complete their homework.

The students declined and reported the incident to school staff, who called police.

The man is described as an approximately 40-year-old Caucasian man with “scruffy” facial hair. He was wearing a black jacket over a red hooded sweater, blue and yellow plaid pants, and sandals with red and yellow mismatched socks.

Officers searched the area but were unable to find the man, and a vehicle description was not obtained.

If you have information about this incident, you are asked to call VicPD’s Report Desk and (250) 995-7654, extension 1. To report what you know anonymously, call Greater Victoria Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
