A U.S. Coast guard crew responded to a report of an injured member of a Canadian naval vessel in Puget Sound Friday.

The Coast Guard Sector Puget Sound command center in Seattle was notified around 10:30 a.m. that a person aboard HMCS Nanaimo suffered a head injury after a fall.

The Canadian crew reported the man had a laceration on his head and showed signs of a concussion.

Officials say a Coast Guard MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Port Angeles conducting training exercises in the area was diverted to where HMCS Nanaimo was located.

The Canadian Navy Ship had been transiting in the northern section of Admiralty Inlet.

The crews from the helicopter and Canadian vessel put the injured man into a basket and he was hoisted into the helicopter.

The man was transported to a hospital around 12:20 p.m. and his medical condition is unknown.

The Nanaimo continued its transit without further incident.
