Two taken to hospital after falling out of canoe in Sooke at Kemp Lake

Two men were rescued and sent to hospital after falling out of their canoe at  Kemp Lake in Sooke Friday.

After the men fell they attempted to get back in the boat, but it filled with water.

Around 3 p.m. members of the public and emergency crews from the Otter Point Volunteer Fire Department worked to reach the two — who eventually made it to shore.

Otter Point fire was able to bring in paramedics from B.C. Ambulance and take the men out with an offroad vehicle. They were both suffering from hypothermia and were transported to hospital.

Langford Fire was also requested to bring their boat, but was later stood down.
