Nanaimo RCMP are asking for help to identify two masked suspects who tried to enter a bank’s night deposit box last week.

On July 2, Scotiabank employees arriving for work at 6750 Island Highway North noticed a hole that was drilled or punched into the bottom of the deposit box.

Police say the hole was about 12 inches across and eight inches in height that authorities say would have taken a considerable amount of time to make.

RCMP say a prying tool was used to take the stucco off the bottom of the deposit box wall, but the box was not entered.

In a release, police say staff looked at security video from the night before showing two males, with their faces covered and wearing gloves, around the deposit box from 3:43 a.m. to when they left at 4:50 a.m.

Police say they have no suspects or witnesses at this time, but if anyone has information on the identity of the suspects or information on the clothing worn, you are asked to call Nanaimo RCMP at 250-754-2345.
