Travel disruptions to continue through June amid Highway 4 upgrades

CHEK

Work is progressing on improvements to Highway 4 between Port Alberni and Tofino but the Ministry of Transportation says travel disruptions will continue through June.

The ministry says work on a major rock bluff on Kennedy Hill means daily, midday closures of the busy route will be needed between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. all next month.

For the last five weeks, a section of Highway 4 has been closed for 10 hours every Wednesday to allow blasting and removal of the massive rock bluff.

The ministry says that work has ended successfully and the lengthy Wednesday closures are over but the shorter midday closures are needed to successfully complete the project.
