The ‘Amodio Rodeo’ continues: ‘Jeopardy!’ contestant goes for 34th consecutive win Monday

Jeopardy!

Amid all the talk and controversy over who gets to host “Jeopardy!,” there’s been little said about someone who should be getting attention for winning on the long-running game show.

Contestant Matt Amodio has vaulted himself into the “Jeopardy!” history books by earning his 33rd victory last week, which landed him in second place on the all-time consecutive wins list.

With the win, Amodio moved past James Holzhauer — who competed in the “Jeopardy! The Greatest of All Time” tournament in January 2020 — for the sole possession of second place all-time.

On Monday, Amodio will look for his 34th consecutive win, which would also add to his total earnings of $1,267801 as well. After passing the million-dollar earnings mark last week, Amodio became only the third person in the show’s history to reach the seven-figure mark. He joins Ken Jennings and James Holzhauer in the million-dollar club, though both have more than doubled Amodio’s total earnings.

As far as wins go, Amodio now sits only behind Ken Jennings, who remains in the number one spot with 74 consecutive wins to his name.

“Ken’s always been the face of “Jeopardy!” to me, so when I think of Jeopardy!, I think of him,” Amodio said when asked about Jennings. “To [be] right behind him is a surreal experience.”

Amodio’s attempt at his 34th win can be watched on CHEK TV, beginning Monday, October 4, at 7:30 p.m.
