BC Ferries says the long lines Tuesday morning were due to a ticketing glitch that affected both foot passengers and vehicle traffic. File photo.

A ticket glitch early Tuesday morning led to some unusually long lines at Swartz Bay Tuesday morning.

On their website, BC Ferries says a ticket processing issue led to delays at both vehicle and foot passenger booths. The day after a long weekend, many travelers reportedly missed their reservations.

“The IT department has been engaged and is investigating the issue,” BC Ferries said on its website.

By 8:30 a.m., the company said the issue had been resolved and all booths were functioning normally, but the glitch led to a big back up in cars.

BC Ferries had added hourly ferries for Tuesday, being the day after the long weekend, but sailings may remain delayed as a result of the problem.
