The West Shore RCMP have identified a man who was allegedly acting “suspicious and concerning” towards women on the Galloping Goose in Langford.

On January 31, the West Shore RCMP received a complaint of a suspicious occurrence from a woman who was walking on the trail near Jacklin Road.

The woman told police that she was walking on the portion of the trail just before the Victor Chen Memorial Park when a man approached her and was staring at her for a number of minutes.

She says he didn’t say anything, but that she found the interaction odd.

The woman kept walking and came across another woman on the trail who said the same man had come out of the bush and onto the Galloping Goose trail minutes earlier and startled her.

“We wish to inform the public that we have since identified the man in this occurrence,” said Cst. Nancy Saggar, West Shore RCMP Media Relations Officer. “At this point in time nothing criminal has occurred however this behaviour came across as suspicious and concerning and we will be speaking to him regarding this matter.”
