West Shore RCMP say what initially started as a case about a stolen muffin, turned into a larger case.

On Feb. 8 around 10:45 p.m. a bystander approached an RCMP officer at the West Shore Town Centre to report a man who had just allegedly stolen a muffin from a nearby coffee shop.

The officer approached the man and saw him drinking alcohol in his vehicle, which is prohibited under the Liquor Control and Licensing Act.

The 29-year-old man was identified and the officer learned he had multiple warrants for his arrest.

He was also on a release order out of Saanich, which included conditions to not be found on Vancouver Island and not to consume or be in possession of drugs or alcohol.
