Screening of Dr. Bonnie Henry documentary proceeds as planned despite protests in Victoria

Despite about 40-50 protesters outside the screening of a documentary about Dr. Bonnie Henry, the film went ahead without disruption, according to the Victoria Film Festival.

On Thursday evening, “Our Time to be Kind,” a documentary about Henry handling the COVID-19 pandemic as B.C.’s provincial health officer, was set to be screened at the Vic Theatre.

Ahead of the screening, Victoria Police says about 40-50 protesters were out front to protest the measures that were put in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and reduce the number of deaths.

The protesters were those opposed to any measures put in place.

“Approximately 40-50 protesters attended outside the theatre; however, the event was peaceful and no arrests were made,” VicPD said in a statement.

The Victoria Film Festival says the protest was kept under control by police, and the screening was uninterrupted.
