Saanich Police investigating smashed window at Greater Victoria School Board office

The Saanich Police are investigating an incident where a window was broken this morning at the Greater Victoria School Board office located on Boleskine Road.

At this time, police believe that the window was hit by a pellet shot possibly from a slingshot. A metal ball-bearing was found outside near the broken window following the incident. The impact created a small hole and crack in the window however the projectile did not enter the building.

“Ball-bearings of this type are commonly used with slingshots,” reads a statement from Saanich Police.

The incident took place at around 10 a.m. on Thursday morning and police are seeking witnesses who may have been in the area around that time. Efforts are also underway to determine if any video surveillance is available in the immediate vicinity.

According to SaanichPD, no one was injured in the incident.

Police arrived at the office, located at 556 Boleskine Road, after receiving reports after staff heard a loud bang and discovered a hole in one of the exterior windows of the building. At this time, however, police do not believe a firearm was used in the incident.

“While we are unsure of the reason behind this incident, this appears to be an isolated event as there have not been any similar incidents reported in Saanich this year,” said SaanichPD.
