A large police presence on Station Avenue Tuesday night.

A heavy police presence in Langford has been cleared after a nearly five-hour standoff Tuesday night.

West Shore RCMP says officers responded to a police incident just after 5 p.m, and say the incident was over around 10 p.m.

Residents in the area were told to stay inside their homes and witnesses told CHEK a person was barricaded inside a housing unit.

Another witness who lives in the complex says the person was talked out of the complex and taken away by police without incident.

No details have been released about the incident, but West Shore RCMP says a more detailed update will be provided Wednesday.

The incident saw a number of streets blocked in the area around Station Avenue, but they are now open.

Streets affected included Peatt Road, Orono Avenue, Meaford Avenue and Phipps Road at Ravilo Place.
