Rescue crews on scene after person falls into water above Elk Falls near Campbell River

Emergency crews are on the scene west of Campbell River after a person reportedly fell in to the water above Elk Falls.

The Campbell River Fire Department first responded at 2:18 p.m. to the incident, their technical team is now leaving the area.

The RCMP, B.C. Ambulance Service and Campbell River Search and Rescue are remaining at the scene.

Campbell River fire notified B.C. Hydro right away of the incident, allowing them to lower the river flow to the area and delay an increase in water levels planned for tonight.
