RCMP seek to identify suspect in midday bank robbery in Sidney

Police said they are looking for this male suspect after a bank robbery in Sidney on July 9, 2019.

Police are looking for one suspect after the Toronto Dominion (TD) bank in Sidney was robbed Tuesday afternoon.

Police said at around 2:43 p.m., a man entered the bank at 2406 Beacon Avenue and gave a note to a teller that demanded cash be handed over to him.

After receiving the undisclosed amount of cash, the man left the bank. Police said he was last seen on foot heading north on Fifth Street. He was not located by the Sidney/North Saanich RCMP general investigation section and police dog services.

The suspect was seen on surveillance footage and two photos have been released. He is described as a white man, approximately 6’2,” with a medium fit build. He was wearing a dark coat with a white pattern down both sleeves, a dark hat with white writing, black sunglasses, dark pants and dark shoes.

“This was a bold midday robbery in a busy area of our town,” Const. Meighan de Pass, the Sidney/North Saanich RCMP media relations officer, said in a statement.

“We are hoping that someone saw something which can assist in identifying this male or assist in our investigation.”
