RCMP seek man who used ‘cloned credit card’ to make $7.3K in purchases

The Sooke RCMP are asking the public to help identify a man suspected of buying two generators worth thousands of dollars each by using a “cloned credit card.”

Greater Victoria Crime Stoppers says the two generators, worth about $7,330 combined, were recently purchased from a Sooke business.

The suspect in the case is described as a South Asian man, aged 40 to 45, who stands 5’8” with a heavy build. He was wearing a dark-coloured hoodie and jeans at the time of the purchase.

Mounties add that the suspect was accompanied by another South Asian man who was driving a blue Dodge Ram truck at the time.

Anyone who recognizes the suspect is asked to call the Sooke RCMP or contact Crime Stoppers anonymously online or at 1-800-222-8477.
