The Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit (VIIMCU) are giving an update Wednesday on the two-year investigation into the homicide of a 72-year-old Victoria man.

On March 2, 2017, the remains of Richard “Blair” Young of Victoria were found near a rest stop along the Malahat Drive section of Highway 1. Young was reported missing in mid-February that year.

Police ruled the death was a homicide but did not provide a cause of death at that time.

On Tuesday, RCMP and Victoria police said VIIMCU Insp. David Hall will speak with the media about the case at VicPD headquarters.

“Inspector Hall will share developments in the investigation and appeal for witnesses and information at VicPD’s Headquarters,” the two departments said in a statement.

The death of Richard Blair Young, 72, who was reported missing to police in Victoria in February, is now under investigation as a homicide, say RCMP. (Victoria Police)
