An area is taped off near the West Shore Parkway following the discovery of human remains on March 1, 2019.

West Shore RCMP and the BC Coroners Service are investigating after human remains were found in a wooded area in Langford off the West Shore Parkway.

At around 10:30 a.m. on March 1, police responded to the forest in the 3500-block of the West Shore Parkway after they received a report of a deceased person.

Police said “out of an abundance of caution,” several resources went to the scene, including the Island District RCMP Forensic Identification Services and the Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit.

The identity of the deceased person is not being released pending next of kin notification. Police do not suspect foul play and say there is no risk to the public.
