RCMP in Sidney say a Victoria man has been arrested for a stabbing that left another man with serious injuries in the seaside town.

The incident occurred on Feb. 3 around 11 p.m. at the intersection of Beacon Avenue and Fifth Street.

At the time, RCMP told CHEK News that officers arrived at the scene to find a man suffering from “serious injuries.”

He was taken to hospital by paramedics that night.

On Friday, roughly one month after the stabbing occurred, RCMP said a Victoria man had been arrested for the crime.

Police added that they believe the incident was isolated and that there’s no risk to the public.

“There is still work to be done to ensure all available evidence related to this crime is processed and delivered to the courts but we would like Sidney residents to know this was not a random act and that the man responsible has been arrested,” said Staff Sgt. Wayne Conley of the Sidney/North Saanich RCMP.

He also thanked the detachment’s major crime section for the “excellent police work” done so far in the investigation.

“This investigation is ongoing, no further details will be provided at this time,” said Mounties in the release Friday.
