Oak Bay's engine 1 was invovled in a crash on Nov. 21, 2023.

Oak Bay Fire Department’s Engine 1 will be out of service until further notice after being involved in a crash.

While driving back to the station following a call around noon, there was a crash involving an Oak Bay fire truck and van at the corner of Cedar Hill Cross Road and Cadboro Bay Road.

In a Facebook post, the District of Oak Bay says no staff or civilians were injured.

A CHEK cameraperson at the scene observed damage to the front of the fire truck and side of the van.

Oak Bay police officers attended the scene.

This is one of the department’s six vehicles, so the district says fire protection will remain in place despite Engine 1 being taken from service.
