The first test lift for the new Johnson Street bridge has been postponed until Monday.

First planned to take place Sunday,  it was moved as a weather delay forced crews to halt work for an entire day last weekend.

The test will see the bridge lift up, as it will in the future to allow marine traffic to pass underneath.

Crews are keeping an eye on the weather, as winds are expected to reach 42 kilometres Monday— the limit for them is 50 kilometres.

Project engineer Jonathan Huggett says crews have been working overtime and throughout nights to catch up.

“The workers are missing the Superbowl this afternoon because of it…  there is no real delay in the process because we never had a hard date Sunday.”
