BC Hydro restores power to nearly 2,000 customers in Saanich Peninsula after bird hits wires

Nearly 2,000 people are currently without power in the Saanich Peninsula

According to BC Hydro’s outage map, a total of 1,937 customers in an area covering parts of North Saanich and Central Saanich, including Brentwood Bay and Saanichton, were without power starting for nearly two hours Sunday.

The outage began at 3:20 p.m. and hydro crews were able to restore power to the area by 5:15 p.m.

BC Hydro says the outage was caused after a bird struck some power lines.
