Nanaimo RCMP is seeking the owner of a canoe that was found by a local man floating adrift in Brannen Lake.

According to police, the canoe was spotted floating on the lake back on August 31 with nobody in the boat.

The man who spotted the canoe said that he had been floating adrift for three days before he decided to bring the canoe to his house for safekeeping.

The canoe is a 14.5 foot, Explorer DLX, rust in colour, with grey plastic seats and matching backrests.

RCMP says that if the owner of the canoe is not found within the next 90 days, the local man who found the canoe will be eligible to receive it.

Anyone with information on who owns this canoe is being asked to call the Nanaimo RCMP non-emergency line at 250-754-2345, and quote file # 2021-32986.
