RCMP is asking the public to keep an eye out for a Nanaimo man who was last seen in Vernon in late January.

Police are searching for 50-year-old Wade Haines, who missed a scheduled medical appointment in early February. His absence has prompted concerns for his safety and well-being, police say.

Mounties say investigators confirmed that Haines was in Vernon on Jan. 28.

“At that time, Haines apparently indicated that he may try to make his way to Manitoba,” said Nanaimo RCMP in a release Thursday. “To date, this cannot be confirmed and his current whereabouts are unknown.”

Haines is described as a white man who stands 6’2” and weighs 210 pounds. He has short brown hair and hazel eyes. Mounties say the photo of him is considered recent.

Anyone with information on Haines’ whereabouts is asked to call the Nanaimo RCMP non-emergency line at 250-754-2345.
