Missing Parksville man’s death not considered suspicious: RCMP

RCMP say a missing Parksville man has been located dead, two days after he was reported missing.

The 75-year-old, John Mathers, was reported missing on April 15 and his vehicle was found unoccupied at Englishman River Falls Park in Errington shortly after.

Dozens of search and rescue volunteers scoured the area on Tuesday, and on Wednesday afternoon RCMP said Mathers had been located deceased.

“The cause of his death is not considered suspicious,” said Mounties in a release Wednesday.

“The RCMP offers its condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
