Victoria Police Department says a man was pricked by this needle after stepping on it while walking through Beacon Hill Park.

A man walking in a popular Victoria park was pricked by a needle.

According to the Victoria Police Department, a man was walking near a woodchip trail in Beacon Hill Park at around 8:30 p.m. last night when he stepped on an uncapped hypodermic needle.

The man transported himself to hospital and informed VicPD officers about the incident.

VicPD says the incident happened near Douglas Street and Avalon Road and was in an area of dirt just off the woodchip trail.

The incident comes a few weeks after VicPD issued a warning after officers discovered a used needle with a small amount of blood taped to a staircase handrail at Beacon Hill Park. It also comes after an employee with the City of Victoria was pricked by a needle near Wharf Street.
