The Victoria Police Department has arrested a man after he drove into the storefront of Marble Slab Creamery at The Bay Centre in Victoria.

The man was suspected by police to be drug-impaired at the time of the incident, which occurred just before 11 p.m. on Sunday evening.

Officers were called to the scene, having received a report that a man had crashed into the local business, driving his car into the storefront twice as seen in the video below.

When officers arrived, they found the man still in his vehicle, however, he proceeded to ignore police direction and attempted to flee the scene.

Officers deployed a Conductive Energy Weapon (CEW) and withdrew the man from the vehicle, where he continued to resist arrest and was taken to the ground.

He was later released with a 24-hour driving prohibition pending further investigation into drug-impaired driving.

Police say that no one else was injured as a result of this incident.
