Major drug bust in Greater Victoria area leads to three arrests

The photos released by authorities provide a stark display of the seizure, with numerous zip-lock bags and pill bottles with illegal drugs.

Three people have been arrested following a joint drug trafficking investigation between Victoria and Saanich police

Officers from the two agencies pulled off a high-risk vehicle stop near Douglas Street and Burnside Road in Victoria around 3 p.m., March 15 as part of an ongoing investigation focused on tackling organized crime and drug trafficking in the region.

A search of the vehicle yielded a small amount of drugs, cash, and a .22-caliber handgun with ammunition. Two men were taken into custody but were later released pending further investigation.

Later that day, police obtained a search warrant for a property in the 100-block of Lurline Avenue in Saanich that led to an even bigger bust.

Photos released by authorities Friday show the scale of the bust, with numerous zip-lock bags and pill bottles containing fentanyl, cocaine and methamphetamine, in amounts police say are consistent with trafficking.

On top of that, a second pistol and approximately $30,000 in cash was seized during the search, as well as a $10,000 bicycle

One person at the scene was arrested for an outstanding warrant and is undergoing processing with the Saanich Police Department.

The investigation into the case is ongoing, and VicPD asks that anyone who may know more about the suspects or their alleged drug trafficking to call the department at 250-995-7654.
