London Drugs starts ‘gradual reopening’ of some Island locations

Some of the Vancouver Island locations are part of the “gradual reopening” for London Drugs on Sunday.

Just before 1 p.m., there were four Island locations that had reopened — Harris Green Village at 911 Yates Street, Nanaimo North Town Centre at 4650 Rutherford Road, Courtenay at 2751 Cliffe Avenue, and Campbell River at 1400 Dogwood Street.

London Drugs is updating its website as stores reopen.

“We are taking the time with each store to ensure systems are working and ready to serve customers,” London Drugs’ website says. “We ask for patience as we work with each store to ensure it is operating fully to meet the needs of our customers.”

On Saturday, the company said it is continuing to work with third-party cybersecurity experts to bring its operations back online.

“The impact of the incident on operations has been significant, and the restoration process is rigorous. There are billions of lines of data and code to review,” the company said in a statement on May 4.

“Our teams have been working around the clock and we are seeing progress in our restoration. Our priority is to ensure we bring our operations and services back up in a secure, systematic way, so that we can offer to our customers the level of care they expect from London Drugs.”

The company says there is no evidence at this point in the investigation that any customer databases were compromised, including pharmacy patients and LDExtras members.

All of London Drugs 80 stores closed on April 28 due to the cybersecurity incident. The stores all remained closed until May 4, when some started reopening.

Information on the exact cybersecurity incident has not yet been released.
