A local Sidney business was broken into and had some merchandise stolen last month, according to Sidney/North Saanich RCMP.

A local Sidney business was broken into and had some merchandise stolen last month, according to Sidney/North Saanich RCMP.

Police said on the morning of Oct. 24, a citizen noticed the front glass of a business on Beacon Ave. was broken and called RCMP right away.

When RCMP arrived on scene, they determined the break-in occurred overnight sometime between Oct. 23 and Oct. 24. Store merchandise was stolen during the incident.

“These types of incidents are rare in Sidney,” said Sidney/North Saanich RCMP Detachment Commander Wayne Conley in a press release. “These investigations are taken seriously. Our detachment frontline members are working with both our General Investigation Section and our crime analyst on this incident.”

Sidney/North Saanich RCMP contacted the Vancouver Island Forensic Identification Section to assist with the investigation and conduct a thorough examination of the evidence.
