The public is encouraged to bring their unwanted pumpkins to the Westshore Town Centre on Saturday, Nov. 7, where they can be dropped off a 105-foot ladder for charity.

If you like seeing pumpkins get tossed off a fire engine ladder, you’re in luck.

The Westshore Town Centre will be hosting a charitable “Pumpkin Smash” event at the Cineplex parking lot this coming Saturday, Nov. 7.

Between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., members of the public are encouraged to bring their unwanted pumpkins and Jack-o-Lanterns to the mall parking lot, where, by donation, Langford Fire Rescue firefighters will drop them from their 105-foot fire engine ladder.

“This will be a drive-in movie style event that will have plenty of parking around the drop zone for people to watch safely from their vehicles. If you have a pumpkin please place it on the ground in front of your vehicle and we will come by and collect it,” Langford Fire Rescue said in a post on Facebook.

Langford Fire Rescue also said all B.C. COVID-19 safety protocols will be followed, with firefighters wearing gloves, masks, and sanitizing their hands regularly when they change gloves.

The event is a fundraiser with proceeds going to Muscular Dystrophy Canada and the B.C. Professional Firefighters Burn Fund.
