Get Up and Grow: What you need to know before planting grape hyacinths

CHEK

In this episode of Get Up and Grow, CHEK’s Hannah Lepine and Gord Nickel, president of Wildwood Outdoor Living Centre, go over what you need to know before planting grape hyacinths in your garden this fall.

These bright flowers come in a range of beautiful colours from royals blues to light purples. These plants are a little smaller and usually range between six to eight inches high.

Gord tells Hannah these are pretty easy plants to grow, they love the sun or light shade and spread very quickly. He says it’s best to plant them in areas you don’t mind them spreading as they self-seed.

Gord also shows Hannah some options for plants that look great with the hyacinths, these include a royal star magnolia and forsythia.
