Chance of snow in forecast for parts of Vancouver Island

Snow accumulated in Port McNeill starting mid-day on Feb. 25 into Feb. 26.

Winter is making yet another appearance this year, with snow in the forecast for parts of Vancouver Island on Monday morning.

On North Vancouver Island, snow began accumulating in the afternoon on Sunday and continued into Monday.

DriveBC’s Highway 19 webcam shows snow beginning to accumulate just before 4 p.m.

DriveBC has issued weather condition warnings for Highways 19, 30 and 28.

Elsewhere on the Island, Environment Canada says there is a chance of flurries for most of Vancouver Island.

Port Alberni is expected to be spared of snow Monday morning, but by the afternoon there is a chance of flurries.

There is a chance of wet flurries or rain showers for the Southern Gulf Islands, Malahat, Tofino, Ucluelet, Victoria, and Esquimalt.

Nanaimo, Port Hardy, Qualicum Beach and Duncan have a chance of flurries or rain showers.

Campbell River, Courtenay and Comox have a chance of flurries.

The winter tire requirements for B.C. Highways are still in effect.
