Campbell River appoints acting city manager

Campbell River has found itself a city manager, at least for the time being.

On Friday, the City of Campbell River announced that Elle Brovold has been appointed as the municipality’s acting chief administrative officer. She replaces Deborah Sargent, who has since retired.

Brovold, who is currently the city’s director of community planning and livability and has been with the municipality since 2014, will begin her new role on Dec. 16.

“I have been a part of this community and the City of Campbell River team for many years now. It is a privilege to take on this role and help guide the city through the changes that a new council brings. I look forward to connecting with residents, staff and partners as we move into 2023,” said Brovold in a press release.

Brovold began her career in local government back in 2006 and has held various roles with the City of Campbell River.

“We are thrilled that Elle had the confidence in this Council and the courage to take on this role,” said Mayor Kermit Dahl.

The search for a permanent chief administrative officer remains ongoing. Brovold will be acting CAO until the position is filled, according to the City of Campbell.
