BC SPCA makes second seizure of animals from Ladysmith area farm

The seizure on Oct. 31 is pictured.

Ladysmith RCMP and BC SPCA officers executed a second search warrant on a Cedar farm Thursday, and removed crates of additional animals.

The seizure comes after a previous search warrant was executed on the rented property on Oct. 31, which led to large numbers of goats, dogs and chickens being removed, following concerns and complaints from neighbours over the animals’ condition.

According to BC SPCA senior officer of protection Eileen Drever, on Nov. 16 officers seized snakes, rats, quail, chickens, ducks, a rabbit and a cat from the rural Ladysmith property.

No charges have been laid. The SPCA investigation continues.
