The BC Coroners Service says it is investigating a death related to a single-vehicle crash in Sooke early Tuesday morning.

Mounties were called to assist paramedics with the crash, which happened in the 5800-block of Sooke Road at around 2:15 a.m.

They say they found five people in the vehicle, all with serious injuries, after it crashed into a tree.

No further details were released by RCMP. The coroners service said it would not release or confirm details related to the deceased person’s identity.

The collision shut down Sooke Road for most of the morning Tuesday as RCMP investigated.

They’re now asking any witnesses or people with dashcam footage of Sooke Road from Woodlands Road to Veteran Memorial Parkway between the hours of 1:30 a.m. and 2:15 a.m. Tuesday to contact them, specifically looking for any images of a black two-door sedan heading westbound.

Anyone with information is asked to call Sooke RCMP at 250-642-5241.
