A festival that celebrated flying kites on Victoria’s shoreline will not take flight again in 2018.

The Victoria International Kite Festival Society announced they will not be continuing the event that ran at Clover Point for three years.

The festival didn’t run last year when the organization said producer John Vickers stepped back to deal with other downtown events he produced.

Vickers also started the International Buskers Festival and the Victoria International Chalk Art Festival but moved to Toronto last summer.

A Facebook post on Wednesday afternoon from the society thanked everyone involved in the production of the festival that included kite flying, kids kite construction and entertainment.
