Man charged with assault after allegedly pushing another man down a flight of stairs in Saanich

A man was charged with assault after allegedly pushing another man down a flight of stairs in a Saanich apartment building during a fire alarm on Saturday.

A man was charged with assault following an incident at an apartment building in Saanich on Saturday.

According to the Saanich Police Department, officers and members of the Saanich Fire Department responded to an apartment building in the 900-block of Inverness Road after the building’s fire alarm was activated at around 1 p.m. on Oct. 24.

When officers arrived at the apartment, they located an injured man with non-life-threatening injuries who told them he had been pushed down a flight of stairs by another man.

Officers conducted a search of the apartment building, which had been evacuated due to the fire alarm, and located the male suspect inside.

The unidentified suspect was arrested and charged with one count of assault.

Saanich PD told CHEK News the victim and the suspect are known to one another and intoxication was a factor.
