Another case of COVID-19 has been identified at Canadian Forces Base Esquimalt.

According to the Canadian Armed Forces, a third civilian defence employee working at the base tested positive for the virus on Friday evening.

It comes after two other civilian defence employees working at the Fleet Maintenance Facility Cape Breton tested positive for the deadly virus earlier this week. The first employee tested positive on Wednesday while a second case was identified Friday morning.

“These civilian defence team members worked closely with the initial member who contracted the virus,” Lt.-Cmdr Tony Wright, senior public affairs officer with the Canadian Armed Forces, said in a statement.

Some critical maintenance is continuing in the fleet and the facility is currently being sanitized, according to Wright.
