There are 325 people hospitalized with COVID in B.C., 57 of whom are in Island Health.

In the province 28 people are in critical care, and four in Island Health.

For the week of May 29 to June 04 there were 219 people admitted to hospital with COVID in the province, 54 in Island Health.

In the same week, the province is reporting 43 people who died, 14 in Island Health.

Both the hospital admissions and deaths are conditional and subject to change in the next weekly update.

There were 895 people in the province who tested positive for COVID-19 with a PCR test, and 161 in Island Health.

B.C. does not have a way for people to report rapid test results and does not include rapid test results in COVID updates.

Currently, only immunocompromised people, people with high-risk conditions, people 70 or older, people who aren’t fully vaccinated, or people whose medical care may be affected by a positive result are eligible for PCR tests.

During the same week, the province conducted 19,929 tests, resulting in a 7.2 positivity rate.

Island Health conducted 1,743 tests, resulting in a 12.2 positivity rate.

During each weekly COVID update, the province provides updated and more accurate numbers for hospital admissions and deaths from the previous update.

In the week of May 22 to May 28, the province previously reported 265 people admitted to hospital, and updated that number to 310.

In the same week, the province previously reported 44 people died, and updated that number to 61.
