Kaspick clutch again, Royals sweep Rockets

CHEK

WATCH: Noah Gregor and Tanner Kaspick stole the show for the Victoria Royals, as they team up to take down the Kelowna Rockets 4-3 in overtime to retake first place in the B.C. Division.

The Royals got off to a hot start, Gregor would get the feed from Kaspick and score his 19th goal of the year  to give Victoria an early advantage.

The Rockets would tie the game shortly after thanks to a beautiful feed from Dillon Dube to Kole Lind, and Tampa Bay Lightning first-round pick Cal Foote would score on the power play to give Kelowna a 2-1 lead after the first period.

The Royals would get the equalizer late in the second, Gregor would find a streaking Kaspick up the middle, who would beat the defender, cut to the net and tuck in his 19th goal of the season to tie the game at two heading into the final frame.

Connor Bruggen-Cate would score for the Rockets midway through the third, but the Royals would answer back under two minutes later, Dante Hannoun would find Gregor at the side of the Rockets’ net, and he would roof it over Kelowna netminder James Porter to send the game to overtime. After a delay of game penalty by the Rockets, the Royals were given a 4-on-3 power play, and they made no mistake. Kaspick would wind up and blast a one-timer past Porter for the game winner, a big win for the Royals to overtake first place in the B.C. Division.

These two teams had plenty of bad blood over the two-game series, and that tension should spill out into Monday night when the Royals travel to Kelowna to play their third straight game against the Rockets.
