WorkSafeBC is responding and doing an inspection after a French Creek Seafood worker was injured and taken to Nanaimo Regional General Hospital Monday morning.

Erica Simpson, government and media relations officer with WorkSafeBC, said they were called at 9:05 a.m. about a serious workplace incident at the site, which is located at 1097 Lee Road.

Brad McLean, president of French Creek Seafood, said the company is assessing the situation and the person involved is in stable condition at the hospital.

French Creek Seafood is a processing fish plant and also sells seafood.
