Port Alberni RCMP officers were called to the bridge near Clutesi Haven Marina for reports of a woman in distress in the water.

Port Alberni RCMP says a woman was rescued from the water near Clutesi Haven Marina on Saturday.

RCMP say officers were called to the bridge near the marina around 1:15 p.m. for a woman in distress in the water.

“When officers arrived on scene they found the woman was bobbing her head in and out of water and appeared not to be able to get out herself,” RCMP told CHEK in an email.

One of the officers jumped into the water with a personal flotation device and helped the woman get to shore.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor.

She was brought to the hospital where she was treated for water inhalation as a precaution.
