WHO: More than 300,000 COVID-19 cases reported worldwide for third straight day

There were 304,800 new cases of COVID-19 reported to them on Sept. 20, bringing the total number of reported worldwide in the past 72 hours to 934,019.

More than 300,000 new cases of coronavirus reported worldwide for the third straight day.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), there were 304,800 new cases of COVID-19 reported to them on Sept. 20, bringing the total number of reported worldwide in the past 72 hours to 934,019.

It’s the first time there have been more than 300,000 new cases reported worldwide in three straight days.

Data available on WHO’s website shows, there were 316,961 new cases reported on Sept. 18 and 312,258 cases reported on Sept. 19.

The total number of cases reported worldwide now stands at 30,675,675.

Countries that reported the highest daily increase in the past 24 hours were India, the United States, Brazil, France, Argentina, Colombia, Peru, and Russia.

India, saw the highest increase of any country, reporting 92,605 new cases in the past 24 hours, followed by the United States with 48,226 new cases and Brazil with 39,797 new cases.

For the second day in a row, the number of new cases reported in France exceeded 13,000. The European nation reported 13,465 new cases, its highest single-day increase in the past 24 hours.

Argentina reported 11,945 new cases while Colombia, Peru, and Russia all reported more than 6,000 new cases.

There were also 5,620 deaths reported in the past 24 hours worldwide. The global death toll stands at 954,417, according to the World Health Organization.
