Westshore Rebels head coach suspended after profanity-laced comments towards league

CHEK

WATCH: Charly Cardilicchi has been suspended three games by the BC Football Conference for “violating the coaches code of ethics.”

The Rebels head coach made comments in a Kamloops newspaper earlier this week which detailed his frustration following the league’s cancellation of a recent game in Kamloops. The following is a portion of the quotes attributed to Cardillichia:

“They messed up. They f—– up. They’re the f—— idiots that couldn’t get out of bed until 11 o’clock and tell us the game was cancelled.”

The Westshore Rebels team had already crossed from the island to the lower mainland before the game was cancelled. As a result, the trip reportedly cost the team $7,000 which will not be reimbursed by the league.

The game between the Kamloops Broncos and Westshore Rebels will not be rescheduled. The Sept. 15 matchup at Westhills stadium between the two teams will be worth four points, instead of the regular two.

Rebels defensive coordinator Shane Beatty will take over as Rebels acting head coach.
