West Shore RCMP officers are investigating after a fire, which is being considered “suspicious,” erupted earlier this morning at a residence in Langford.

According to police, West Shore RCMP responded to the 2800-block of Rita Rd in Langford in order to assist the Langford Fire Dept. at a structure fire at approximately 4 a.m. on Friday morning.

Police say there were three residents that managed to escape the fire without any injuries.

West Shore RCMP’s General Investigation Section has taken control of the scene and is treating the fire as suspicious.

We have secured the residence to conduct a thorough investigation and to allow for a proper collection of evidence to determine the source of the fire says Cst. Alex Bérubé, spokesperson for the West Shore RCMP. We are asking anyone who may have video surveillance or may have witnessed anything suspicious prior to the fire, to contact the West Shore RCMP.

An investigation remains ongoing into the incident.
